- 1 pound Italian sausage, sliced
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add Italian sausage and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
- Add orzo and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour in chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes until orzo is tender.
- Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, cooked sausage, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to substitute spinach or sun-dried tomatoes for added flavor.
- Use gluten-free orzo for a gluten-free version.
