  • 1 pound Italian sausage, sliced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add Italian sausage and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add orzo and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes until orzo is tender.
  6. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, cooked sausage, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
