- 4 large onions, thinly sliced

- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 cup dry white wine (optional)

- Baguette slices
- 1 ½ cups grated Gruyère cheese
Instructions
- Caramelize onions in butter and olive oil over medium heat until golden, about 30 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in beef broth and wine, add thyme, salt, and pepper; simmer 20 minutes.
- Toast baguette slices and ladle soup into bowls.
- SNP top with baguette and sprinkle with cheese.
- Broil until cheese is bubbly and golden.
